Sharing the Harvest - YMCA Southcoast
Please join the Sharing the Harvest Community Farm - YMCA Southcoast and Project Bread for the Annual Walk for Hunger fundraiser May 1, 2022.
YMCA Southcoast welcomes the Greater New Bedford community to join in support of Sharing the Harvest Community Farm.
The Walk for Hunger provides relief to those struggling with food insecurity. No one should go without a meal, yet Project Bread estimates that 1 in 6 households across the Commonwealth are facing hunger right now.
You can make a difference! Come walk with us on Sunday, May 1, 2022 (rain or shine). With your donation, we can increase harvest production volume and bring more farm-fresh food choices to those in need.
Registration for the community's 3-mile walk will start at 8:30 am and we will step off at 9:30 am from Apponagansett Park, cross the scenic Padanaram bridge, and through the village. Following the walk, join Sharing the Harvest Farm Director, Ashley Brister, for refreshments and tours of the farm and greenhouse at the Dartmouth YMCA.
Since 2006, in partnership with the United Way of Greater New Bedford Hunger Commission, Sharing the Harvest Community Farm has donated 725,000 pounds of fresh, nutritious produce to families right here in the Southcoast. This year’s plan, with the help of 500 volunteers, is to grow at least 60,000 lbs!
Help us meet our goal of $20,000 in 2022!
Sixty percent of the proceeds we raise will go to Sharing the Harvest Community Farm and forty percent to Project Bread helping our shared mission to reduce food insecurity throughout MA.
