On Sunday, May 7th, I will be participating in my 34th Walk for Hunger for Project Bread.
(For all you Red Sox fans, this is my "Big Papi #34" year walking!)
I have an extra challenge this year, as I continue to rebuild my stamina over the next 2 months, because just before Christmas, I underwent prostate cancer surgery. My recovery to date has gone well and all signs indicate the cancer is gone. Stamina is my only enemy right now, but I am working hard and walking our new adopted dog (Barkly) daily. I plan on completing my 20 mile walk on Sunday, May 7th!
I am very happy to see that Project Bread has gone back to a 20 mile walk this year. Last year the walk was 10 miles, but I continued to walk 20 miles.
Now my ongoing challenge is to ask for and receive your support in order to assist Project Bread in feeding the familes, Seniors and especially the Children of Massachusetts that go hungry each and every day.
So let your friends, co-workers and employer know about my efforts so they to can support this very worthy cause.
I believe good food is a basic right, and am proud to be joining Project Bread on Sunday, May 7th for the 49th annual Walk for Hunger.
This year, more than 300 local programs in more than 100 Massachusetts communities will be supported through money raised by Walkers (and runners!) including: food pantries, meal programs, food rescue, urban agriculture, farm and garden, and critical child nutrition programs.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $3,400.00 by donating to my Walk page!
Every dollar helps support the nearly 675,000 food-insecure children and adults in Massachusetts that can’t always predict where their next meal is coming from.
Please donate to support my efforts, or join me by walking and raising money yourself, either way you are making difference in the lives of people across Massachusetts.
