Get in on all the good feels
I know you know this but just a reminder, no matter what anyone is going through, food is a must. There are kids at Clara and Sam’s school who don’t have enough to eat. Older adults tell us they have to skip meals or skip a dose of medication because it is impossible to afford both. We hear from parents who work full time but can’t make ends meet because they are trying to survive on minimum wage – in Massachusetts, that’s $22,000 a year after taxes.
I have dedicated my career –and at many points in the past two years, my whole world– to making sure everyone has enough to eat. Hunger is an avoidable problem. In the US, hunger is manmade. As I look ahead at the next wave of covid trauma, and think of the hundreds of thousands of people who are already struggling to keep food on the table, I’m launching this personal fundraiser to make sure I do everything in my power to prevent hunger and its consequences.
The best way to help is to provide financial support. It only takes a minute and you will feel really good once you’ve done it. Please donate to support Project Bread. I have a behind the scenes view and I can assure you, it matters.
Take away the chronic stress that comes with being afraid you will run out of food. Please donate generously. If you’re wondering how much is the right amount, I can give my behind the scenes point of view here too.
Think about all the things that you will take for granted in the next 6 weeks. A decadent meal, a new outfit, a ski trip, a beach trip, seeing a doctor without having to pay for it out of pocket and without having to sacrifice pay, even a fancy coffee to get you through the holiday rush. Now think about what it would feel like to be the reason someone else can meet their most basic need this holiday– food. Take those two things into the equation and come up with a formula that helps you get to the right amount for you to give.
Thanks for investing in this cause, and supporting our organization as we work to change lives. Your support certainly changes mine.
Peace & Love
